Interview Preparation

The key to performing well in any interview is preparation! An interview is an opportunity to sell your skills and experience. In advance of the interview ensure to confirm the following:

  • Date of Interview
  • Time of Interview
  • Venue for the interview – ensure that you know exactly where this is and how to get there. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the venue of your interview.
  • Know who you are meeting with & their job titles.

 

Job Specification

Ensure that you are familiar with the job specification and its content. You should be able to draw comparisons and synergies between it and your experience and your background. You can then highlight what you can bring to the role and where you can add value.

Knowing your CV

Your CV will be the main talking point of the interview so please ensures that you are familiar with its contents, that you know all of your relevant dates and that you can articulate the contents in a coherent, articulate, logical & interesting manger. Focus on the aspects of your experience that are most relevant to the role that you are interviewing for. PLEASE DO NOT BRING A COPY OF YOUR CV INTO THE INTERVIEW WITH YOU!!

Listen

Ensure that you listen to every question. Answer the question that you are asked, not the question that you think they have asked.

Ask Questions

You should always have some questions for your interviewer to demonstrate your interest in the position. Be sure that the questions are relevant and demonstrate a solid understanding for the role of the position for which you are interviewing for.
