3 essential Do’s & Don’ts to prepare you for an interview

Interviews can be daunting, especially if it’s for your ‘dream job’. Below I have outlined some Do’s & Don’ts that will help you to complete a successful interview and put yourself in the best position to secure that job you’ve always wanted.

Do be on time – ensure to be anywhere between 5-10 minutes early for your interview. Make sure to give yourself enough time to find parking, where you’re going etc.

Do know your CV inside out! Make sure you know your CV in chronological order and know the dates you were in each job. Also, be sure to know dates for School, University, Certificates obtained etc.

Do have 3 key points ready that you want to get across to the interviewer. Whether this be achievements from a previous job or an award obtained during your time at University.

Don’t be too early! Being at the location 15+ minutes ahead of schedule may seem like a good idea but could potentially be more of an inconvenience to the interviewer.

Don’t bring a copy of your CV into the interview with you. If it is expected of you, you will be asked. Bringing a copy of your CV in with you indicates that you are not familiar with it.

Don’t under sell yourself. Make sure you get across how you can impact the company you are interviewing for but also don’t cut across the interviewer, just ensure to elaborate enough when you’re asked a question but ensure not to waffle on too much either.
